At Dumbrava, a vehicle is never just a vehicle. It is the connection between an injured animal and a veterinarian, between a child and a therapy session, and between a vulnerable person and the help they need.
Our current Opel Combo was purchased with the support of Anima Pro Terra Luxembourg, the organisation with which we collaborate to find international adoptive homes for rescued animals. For years, it has taken us wherever we were needed and made much of Dumbrava’s work possible.
The Combo is still running, but time and difficult roads have taken their toll. Rainwater enters the interior, the battery sometimes fails, and rust has affected several doors. We continue using it because we have no alternative, but we can no longer depend on it in the long term.
Every year, the vehicle helps us to:

respond to approximately 60–200 animal rescues;

support the sterilisation of around 450 animals;

transport animals to our regular veterinary clinic, approximately 20 km away, and to specialist clinics up to 70 km away when necessary;

bring children who live in surrounding villages, 5–10 km away, to and from therapy;

organise educational and recreational trips for children;

purchase and transport supplies for activities involving children and older people; and
-
help people in need reach doctors, lawyers and other essential services.
We are looking for a safe and economical new or recent vehicle with five seats, sliding doors and sufficient room for animal carriers and supplies. The final model will be selected after comparing several offers according to safety, reliability, warranty and operating costs.
Our maximum target is €30,000. We will also approach foundations and partners for support. Every donation raised through this campaign will bring us closer to the amount required or help cover our contribution, animal-transport equipment, registration, insurance and winter tyres.
A reliable vehicle will mean fewer postponed journeys, fewer moments spent hoping that the battery starts, and greater safety for the children, animals and people who depend on Dumbrava.
